Primary Mission

The primary mission of J.H. Benson Turnarounds & Recoveries is to offer consulting services to small businesses, private schools and academies, churches, and colleges that seek to enhance their enrollment, attendance, revenue, and margin through a more focused and enhanced vision, mission, ethos, and commitment to improved, policies, processes, and procedures.

Additionally, J.H. Benson Turnarounds and Recoveries will advise Boards members, after detailed analysis of their organization, concerning the condition and classification of their organization (Sustainment, Recovery, or Turnaround), and then assist with the selection of a president/CEO with the executive courage, personality traits, and skill set to manage the recovery or turnaround.

Specific Services to Benefit Struggling Organizations

The following services are offered to improve "sustainment" organizations; benefit "recovery" organizations that need redirection and a tune-up; and save "turnaround" organizations that require significant changes in personnel, processes, procedures, and policies in order to remain in business.

 

Assess and recommend structure, policies, procedures, territories of responsibility, and staffing for admissions, marketing, and financial aid offices to assist colleges and schools increase the enrollment of domestic and international residential and commuting students/cadets.

Assess and recommend structure, policies and procedures, and staffing for student residence life programs in order to exceed customer expectations relative to military and non-military models of college and secondary college preparatory school education.

Provide consulting and leadership support to Boards in the selection of new presidents/CEOs to include an analysis of the kind of leadership required based on the condition of the business or school/college.

 

Assess the protocol of personnel annual evaluations and recommend as necessary.

Provide Board advice and counsel relative to Board needs and composition.

Provide management team "training and development" as needed.

 

Provide guidance, administrative management, and counsel to presidents/CEOs and Boards in the marketing for, search, and selection of new presidents and Board members.

Provide advice and counsel for the preparation/examination and update of the school strategies to include vision, mission, ethos, and institutional goals.

Assist with the development of a comprehensive student education/ development program that addresses the cognitive, character, leadership, and social skills outcomes that encompass the whole person.

 

Provide budget and financial counsel, monitoring, and recommendations to ensure alignment of needs/spending with resources.

Assess departmental staffing to ensure consistency with needs, resources, and the institution’s mission and vision.

Assist with chaos management during turnarounds and tragedies that affect the organization in significant ways.

 

Provide advice and counsel relative to protocols that prevent hazing, bullying, assault, and sexual assault/misbehavior.  Moreover, preventive counsel will be offered to enhance racial appreciation and stem the tide of racial and religious prejudice that is ostensibly increasing in private and public schools and businesses.

Assess campus climate and learning outcomes assessment to include student morale, academic learning goals and objectives, student discipline, military courtesy and procedures (military schools and colleges) standards of appearance, decorum and dress, and leadership training.

Assess, counsel, and recommend concerning strategies for fundraising and the composition of the development/advancement offices (fundraising and alumni affairs) to increase donations, alumni participation, and giving incentives.

 

Provide training and a developmental model for student character development programs, which emphasize the dimensions of the whole person.

Assess the protocol of personnel annual evaluations and recommend as necessary.

Assist with strategic and business planning for small and medium-size companies to include senior leadership coaching, advice and counsel to increase sales and revenue, personnel management, writing support for foundation documents, crisis planning and execution and more.
