Comments to Cadets

I spoke to the Corps today as opportunities are waning.  I took them back to a previous diatribe relative to the affect of thought on character borrowing from James Allen's great book entitled "As a Man Thinketh."  In view of the workload today, I will offer my points Kipplinger-style.

- Our thoughts forge the tools for which we make or destroy ourselves.

- Master of one's thinking molds one's character and shapes his destiny.

- Through our thinking we unconsciously create the circumstances of our lives.

- When a man earnestly applies himself to remedy the defects in his character and experiences marked progress, he passes rapidly through a succession of vicissitudes (changes in fortune).

- Impure thoughts crystallize into confusing and inappropriate habits.

- Think failure and you will find it.  Think and WILL success, and it will come.

- Discover role models and emulate their admirable traits until your thinking overcomes your habits, and the traits become your own.

- The body is the servant of the mind.  Think positive and the body will deliver results (so true in athletics).

- Right thinking doesn't mean you will be rich; it does mean you will be happy; the world is replete with unhappy rich men.

My hope is that our seniors will depart with some wisdom that will deliver life skills. Wisdom trumps knowledge and intellect every time, especially when combined with faith and prayer.
