Shades of Integrity

11/11/2014

We spend much time at Riverside explaining the nature and importance of integrity, but we never explain that there are "shades of integrity".  We often meet peers, new employees, politicians, entertainers, businessmen, athletes and others who we find seemingly honest and forthright but later learn that they lack a full measure of honesty.  Some will be quick to take the credit for the work of others, share in great detail their own personal achievements while truncating the explanation of their failures, and/or gossiping about others whom they fear will get the next promotion or pay raise.  I caution leaders to be particularly alert for subordinates who possess this "lighter shade of integrity".
