Thoughts and Readings

9/6/2013

If ever I have had an edge relative to my modest successes, it has resulted from my work before the sun comes over the horizon.  E. Stanley Jones said it much better than I:

"In the pure, strong hours of the morning, when the soul of the day is at its best, lean upon the window sill of God, and look into his face, and get your marching orders for the day.  Then go out into the day with the sense of a Hand upon your shoulder."

Habits are hard to change, but I am as confident as I am that the sun will rise again that those who get to bed at an early hour and thus, begin the next day with coffee and devotions before the world wakes up possess an edge that over the years becomes exponential.

I learned this habit throught 26 years of living with and learning from Marines.
